Happy Halloween Everyone!!

Today we participated in many different Halloween activities! This weekend there will be no homewrok. The students have been working super hard this week. Happy and safe Halloween everyone :)

Visual Arts
Today we used different monsters to show our emotions! The students had to draw and colour different emotions on a blank monsters face!

Gym – Ms. Rossi

Math
Today we are doing the math review in our textbooks! We will be doing a lot of review exercises and review sheets before our unit test on Wednesday. We spent a lot of time counting money, and making different amounts using quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies. This really helped the students, as I found they had some trouble understanding this concept of adding money together.

UOI – Unit of Inquiry
Today we are continuing to learn about fossils. We talked about all the different types of fossils, and the students completed a fossil activity and worksheet with their groups.

Math
Today we continued to work with money using problem-solving questions. This was a little tough for the children as they are beginning are still getting used to working with money.

UOI – Unit of Inquiry
Today we reflected on our excavation activity that we completed yesterday. The students had a really great time doing this, and were able to relate paleontology to the study of dinosaurs! 

Language
Today we worked on centers. The student worked with words, writing, reading, and guided reading with me. I was able to see how the students are individually progressing in their reading school.

Math
Today we continued to work with money! This time, we worked on making money amounts! We pretending to buy things in the classroom, and the students had to put their money together to buy it.
MMS: pgs. 54 – 56

UOI – Unit of Inquiry
Today we excavated for fossils!!! (They had to find the skittles in a bowl of sugar). The students learned about paleontology and why it is important when we learn about dinosaurs. 

Language
Today we are working on retelling a story! I am noticing that majority of student’s do not use enough detail when retelling a story. We are going to on this as class! We read the story Hansel and Gretel, and the students filled out a retelling worksheet. They identified the character, the setting, the problem, the solution, and the sequence of events!
