THANK YOU!!

Hello parents,

There are not enough words to express my gratefulness for the past year. We had such an amazing time, and I could not have done it without all your support. As sad as I am to see my students leave, I am so proud of all their achievements in Grade 1, and I wish them nothing but the best in Grade 2. I really connected with this group of students, and I know they will all go on to accomplish great things. They are a truly incredible group of kids, and I am so happy I had the opportunity to be their teacher. Thank you once again, and I hope everyone has an awesome and somewhat relaxing summer J

Tuesday!

Hi everyone!

Today in class we spent most of the time organizing our things and getting ready to take thinhs home. We also spent a lot of time upsating our IB binders! Students have brought home a binder with work inside it! We took the work out that was added to our IB binders, so this work can stay at home now.

TOMORROW IS GRADUATION!

The graduation will begin at 2:00pm for grades JK to Gr. 2! I hope to see everyone at there :)

TOMORROW IS ALSO CASUAL DAY! Students were encouraged to dress up.

Thursday is the zoo and it is going to be HOT! Please be sure to send a small backpack, water, disposal lunch, and suncreen.

Monday

Hi everyone, hope you all had a nice weekend. With the last day of school fast approaching, please keep in mind the following events:

Wednesday, June 10th, 2015:

GRADUATION! The ceremony for the younger grades (which includes us) begins at 2:00pm. This is also CASUAL DAY! I told the students they are more than welcomed to dress up this day as it is a special ceremony.

Thursday, June 11th, 2015:

ZOO TRIP. We will be walking around all day! Having said that, students need a small blackpack to carry their disposable lunch and water bottle in, a hat, and comfortable walking shoes. Students are also encouraged to put sunscreen on before they come to school. I can't wait :)

Friday, June 12th, 2015: LAST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!!

I will be bringing in morning snacks (fruit and muffins) for the kids as we will have a small party. Students may also bring something in if they wish :) This is also the day of the summer fair, which starts at 12:00. Its going to be really fun and a great chance for the students to say bye to their friends.

After Care Notice

1. School ends at 11:30 on June 12th. After care is available this day (until 4:00pm) only on a pre-paid basis. Spots are limited and filling quickly so please ensure you get your form in to Mrs. Smith soon.

FOR THE HOURS OF 11:30 – 4

***Each option includes a ticket to the summer fair and adult supervision.

2. May invoices were sent out last week and are due today. Please ensure your after care account is paid in full. All students with outstanding accounts will not receive their report cards on June 12th.

HABITATS!

Happy Friday!

Happy Friday Everyone!

I would like to take a minute to thank all parents for your support over the past week! I know it has been super crazy, but we made and I am so grateful for all your help.

There will be no homework this weekend! Keep in mind the following events!

ARTS NIGHT TONIGHT!

The students have been working so hard on their performance for tonight. Today we spent almost all day going going through the whole performance as a school. In-between shows, we finished our written booklet for UOI.

Please be here tonight at 6:45 pm, so students can settle in before show time! They should be wearing brown or black to look like a bear. We will be meeting in Ms. Hamiltons room.

ARTS NIGHT IS TOMORROW!!!

Students should be wearing all brown! Or black if brown is too hard to find. Please be sure that all students are here by 7:00 pm. We will be meeting in Ms. Hamilton’s classroom.

Please check out upcoming announcements:

1. Toronto ZOO! Permission form and money due before May 28^th, 2015.

2. Toronto ZOO Trip: Thursday, June 11^th, 2015 (We will be leaving at 9:00am. Don’t forget that students will be carrying their own lunch bags this trip! Please send them with a backpack and shoes that are comfortable for them. Students should also be wearing sunscreen and a hat!

3. UOI SUMMATIVE! The habitat that is made for the animal is done at home! The only part we are working on in class is the written information that will be presented with their animal.

4. Thursday, June 4^th, 2015: Spelling Bee for grades JK to 2 begins at 9:00am!

5. ARTS NIGHT: Wednesday, June 3^rd, 2014: Starts ay 7:00pm! Students will wear all brown! If brown is too hard to find, then students can wear black.

6. Casual Day: Wednesday, June 10^th, 2014 (this is also graduation day so students are invited to dress up)

7. Graduation Day for Grades JK – 2: Wednesday, June 10^th, 2015: Begins at 2:00 pm

Unit of Inquiry

We continued to work on our summative project today in class.

Novel Study

Today we read chapter 6, and all students worked together to answer reading comprehension questions.

Spelling

Since we did not work on spelling yesterday, I gave them a full period to catch up today! Students copied the weekly words from the board 3 times! Then, students wrote sentences with each word, and completed work in their spelling workbook.

Spelling!

We only had a couple minutes to work on our spelling today due to arts night practice, so I will give them a big junk of time to work on this tomorrow in class! That is why the students did not bring their spelling work home today!
