Dramatic Art -  Mr. Monaghan

Gym – Ms. Lovan

Novel Study
We read chapter 2 in the Chocolate Touch!

Math
We used a “2 part mat” to help us count by 10’s and learn about place value. A lot of the children really rush when they count, so I am encouraging them to slow down to ensure they are making proper groups of 10.
MMS: pgs. 234 – 236

Unit of Inquiry
Today we used the smart board!!! We watched a power point on habitats! Students worked on a comprehension sheet after which tested the students on what they learned so far!

Writers Workshop
We will be doing our OWA soon, which deals with persuasive writing. We talked about what this meant today, and to correctly write persuasively! We did some example on the board, and then the students tried this on their own! They had to convince me what animal was the best!

Have a wonderful evening!

Take a look at our day:

French – Mme. Stella was away, so finished our UOI presentations!

Dramatic Art – Mr. Monaghan

Gym – Ms. Lovan

Math Makes Sense
We continued to work with numbers, while finding out the easier ways to count. For example, if there is a lot of something, students figured out that it is easier to put them into groups of 10 first, and then count. Students practiced counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10.’s today.
MMS: pgs. 228 – 230

Unit of Inquiry
Today we started our brand new unit! This unit is definitely my favourite. We will be learning about animals and their habitats! In groups, students brainstormed the definition of a habitat. We shared our ideas as class, and wrote a definition of what a habitat is.
Definition: A habitat is the place where a plant or animal gets the things it needs to live.

Spelling
The students copied their weekly words from the board 3 times, and made a sentence for each word. They then practiced using these word in their spelling workbook!
SPA:  117 – 120 (DUE THURSDAY!)

Have a wonderful night!
