Math 
Grade 1
Today we began a brand new unit. We are studying measurement! We talked about the various ways to measure things around the classroom. Then as a class, we began to measure things using paper clips.

Grade 2
The grade 2’s worked on their basic math skills in their arithmetic workbooks.
A2: pgs. 149 – 152

UOI
Grade 1
Today the grade 1’s got a few minutes to practice their presentation. Then, with their group members, they presented their artist and a picture of their favorite painting.

Grade 2
The grade 2’s continued to research Ireland, and create an Ireland board for our cultural day.

Language 
The students worked on their language skills in their Letter and Sounds Workbooks.

International Day work period :) 

Spelling
Both the grade 1’s and 2’s worked copied their spelling words from the board 3 times in their notebooks. Then they created a sentence using each word. After this, they worked in their spelling workbooks.

Grade 1
Today the grade 1’s completed their unit test!

Grade 2
The grade 2’s worked on representing numbers in various ways! We are focusing on place value this unit. Today we looked at different problems, and solved them by adding 2 digit numbers.

Grade 1
Today the grade 1’s finished their research, and practiced their presentation with their partner.

Grade 2
The grade 2’s continued their research about Ireland.

Spelling Test

Today we ran out of time and did not get a chance to read in our groups! So we instead of phonics fun, we did this today! They love books, so they really enjoyed this!

Grade 1
The grade 1’s reviewed their shapes ones time a class before the unit test tomorrow. Then they worked on their basic math skills in their arithmetic workbooks.
A1: pgs. 189 - 192

Grade 2
The grade 2’s worked on representing numbers using place value charts. We are looking at comparing various numbers as well, using place value.

Grade 1
Today the grade 1’s continued to work on their research projects with their partners! They are having a lot of fun with this, and are super interested in the artist they chose.

Grade 2
Next Friday, April 4th, 2014 is cultural day at St. Jude’s. Our class will be working on Ireland. The grade 2’s have been researching Ireland, and they have been working on a River Dance.

Language 
The students worked on their language skills in their Language Books.

The students wrote a paragraph talking about what they found and what happened.
Grade 1: 5 – 6 sentences

Grade 1
Today we reviewed what we have learned in or geometry unit. Then as class we went through the review, and the students had time to complete the review and ask questions. The review is due tomorrow.

Grade 2
The grade 2’s worked on their basic math skills in their arithmetic workbooks.

UOI
Grade 1
Today the grade 1’s got some information about their artist. Working with their partners, they jotted down some important information for their artist research study.  I mentioned yesterday this was our summative project, but I made a mistake. This is just a research project completed in class.

Grade 2
Today the grade 2’s used research to complete work for cultural day. Our class is researching Ireland.

Language 
The students worked on their language skills in their Letter and Sounds Workbooks.

Language
The students learned about antonyms today. We watched a video, and then had a competition between groups to see who could come up with the most antonyms in 10 minutes! The winning group won 5 group points.
