Good evening everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! MARCH BREAK IS ALMOST HERE! It begins March 10^th, 2014, and we return to school on March 24^th, 2014. This week is SPIRIT WEEK!!! This is a great opportunity for children to show how much St. Jude’s spirit they have! Pease pay attention to the following dates:

Math 

Grade 1

Today the grade 1’s used 3d shapes to create their own picture today. Everything had to be made out of solids, and then they created one with 2D shapes. They realized just how many shapes surround us!

Grade 2 

The grades 2’s wrote their geometry unit test today!

UOI

Grade 1

Today we are beginning a brand new unit! Students will watch a dance, listen to a song, and view some famous art pieces from around the world. Then they will write a prediction piece about what our unit will be about!

Grade 2 

Since last week was very busy, a lot of our UOI time was cancelled. The grade 2’s reviewed their presentation, and presented.

Language 

The students worked on their language skills in their Letters and Sounds workbooks.

LS: pgs. 84 – 85

The students completed a self-to-text connection. I have noticed that students need to work on making meaningful connections with the texts. We read “Loose Tooth” by Robert Munch.

Spelling

Both the grade 1’s and 2’s worked copied their spelling words from the board 3 times in their notebooks. Then they created a sentence using each word. After this, they worked in their spelling workbooks.
