Good evening parents! I hope that everyone had an awesome
weekend. It was nice to see all the students back together again. Now that we
have begun our units, you will find a brief description of our day on my blog,
along with the homework. The agenda may be hard to read, so this a great way
for parents to follow along.
Announcements
Monday, September 15th, 2014 – TERRY FOX RUN!! –
Please be sure to send your students to school in GYM uniform with lots of
water. I have sent home a pledge sheet, and we are really trying to raise as

Our Day
French – Mme.
Stella
Visual Art
We will be doing a lot of creative and neat things in art
class this year! The grade 1’s will each have a portfolio for art class. Today
we made our title pages, and I was able to see how truly creative our class is.
Gym – Ms. Lovan
Math
Today was our first lesson in math. Our first unit begins
with patterns and sorting, which the all the kids were great at! We did some
activities as a class, and they worked on a page in their Math Makes Sense
workbook.
Homework: MMS (Math Makes Sense) pg. 3
UOI – Unit of Inquiry
Our first unit is dealing with rules, relationships, and
responsibilities. Before we dive into this unit, I wanted to focus on getting to
know the students! They filled out an “All About Me” worksheets, and we shared
as a class.
Spelling
Every Monday we work on spelling. I give he student’s lots
of time at the end of the day to work on spelling so they don’t have much for
homework. In the workbook, there are no spelling words the first week, however
Ms. Hamilton and I decided to start the routine of copying down words, and
writing sentences early. I gave them 6 words to copy down 3 times, and then
they had to make a sentence for each word. After this, they worked on some
pages in their spelling notebooks.
SPA (Spelling Workbook A) pgs. 5 – 8
