December 10, 2013
Hello parents! I
just wanted to remind all parents that the last day of school will be Thursday,
December 19th, 2013. There will be NO SCHOOL on Friday, December 20th,
2013. We are also collecting food for
our food drive up until December 18th, 2013, so please donate! I hope to see everyone at the Christmas concert nect week on Wednesday, December 18th, 2013 at 7:00pm :) Take a look at our day;
Math
Grade 1
The students
practiced their math skills, like addition, subtraction, problem solving, and
finding numbers in-between.
Arithmetic 1 pgs.
97 – 100
Grade 2
Today the
students leaned how to subtract using the method of re-grouping. We did this
using a problem-solving question. There are a lot of problem-solving questions
in this unit, and I am trying to get the students to focus on reading the
questions slowly, and thinking about what the questions is asking them to do.
MMS: pg. 108 –
109
UOI
Grade 1
Today the grade
1’s continued to plan out their story! We focused on the development of the
main character today. The students had to draw their main character, and name
him/her. They have really great imaginations.
Grade 2
The grade two’s
continued to work on their man-made vs. natural materials used to make
structures. They completed a worksheet today that compared various materials
and why they are used for different structures.
Language
The grade 1’s and
2’s both worked on their phonics skills in their language books. They are
focusing a lot on root words and suffixes.
Language 1 pgs. 64 – 65
Language 2 pgs.
58 – 59
Cursive Writing
Most students
have made a conscious effort in completing their work in cursive writing. We
are now working on perfecting our letters. The students practiced this in their
workbooks.
Grade 1
HWT pgs. 60 – 61
Grade 2
HWT pgs. 48 – 49
Have a lovely
night everyone!
