December 13, 2013

Happy Friday everyone!!!  Hope to see everyone at the Christmas concert next week on Wednesday, December 18th, 2013. Just wanted to remind everyone that the last day of school is on Thursday, December 19th, 2013. That is also spirit day! The students are encouraged to come to school in red, white, and green! Take a look at our day;

Math
Grade 1
We began our brand new unit today. We talked about what we have learned in regards to numbers so far this year. We talked about the various things we can do with them. They had to look at a picture, and describe using numbers.
MMS: pg. 81

Grade 2
The grade two’s completed a math review in their math makes sense. Once this was done, I gave them their review for the test on Tuesday, and I explained that they must complete half of the review and leave the last 2 pages for Monday, so we can go through it as a class!
Math Review

UOI
Grade 1
Today in UOI, the grade one’s finally started their story! The wrote their beginning using proper writing skills, and draw their picture! So far, I have seen some very creative ideas.

Grade 2
Grade twos explored ways of making structures more stable. We learned that structures become more stable the more they are supported. The grade twos then demonstrated some of what we have learned by drawing their own stable structure plan.

Spelling Test!

Novel Study
We read a few pages together in our Winnie the Pooh novel study. We discussed the signs that were shown on Owl’s door. In groups they wrote out what the signs mean on chart paper. Later we discussed why they think Christopher Robin spelled some of the words wrong? We discussed that its okay to spell words wrong sometimes, if you are trying your very best to spell them out.
Language
We worked in centers to practice our letter blends. Phonics Friday!

Journal
What are your most excited for over the Christmas Holidays. (in cursive)
Grade 1: 5-6 Sentences + a picture
Grade 2: 7-9 Sentences + a picture

Have a wonderful weekend!!
