Hope everyone had
a wonderful weekend. Just a reminder that the tickets for the St. Jude’s gala
are sale now! It will be taking place this year on February 22, 2014. Hope
everyone is getting excited for the winter break! Take a look at our day;
Math
Grade 1
We began
discussing what they already know about numbers from the pervious unit. Then we
looked at the various things we learned about from this unit. The students were
given a chance to reflect and ask any questions regarding the unit we just
completed. They the completed some review questions, and a journal about the
unit in their math makes sense workbook.
MMS: pg. 60 – 62
Grade 2
The grade 2’s
reviewed addition and subtraction with 2 digits, counting money, and solving
word problems in their arithmetic workbooks.
A2: pg. 64-66, 68
UOI
Grade1
The grade 1’s
listened to a story about a messy room, and how to get it organized. Then we
talked about how the characters got organized and why it is so important. We
also talked about why it is important for our writing to be organized as well.
The grade 1’s are writing their very own picture book! We started with
organized our ideas using a brainstorming web.
Grade 2
Today the grade
2’s talked about nature, and the various types of materials that are bot made
from man. The grade 2’s learned how they are different from materials that ARE
man-made, and what they are used for.
Language
Both the grade
1’s and the grade 2’s worked on their phonics skills in their Letters and
Sounds workbooks.

We also finished
our phonics centers from Friday.
Spelling
Both grades
copied this weeks spelling words in their spelling notebooks 3 times. Then,
they had to create sentences for each word. When they completed this, they
practiced using these words in their spelling workbooks.
