We will be
using our tablets this week! The students are upper excited! I am asking
that the students bring in a set of headphones so they can listen to the
tablets for certain activities. We will be using them on TOMORROW afternoon.
Students can leave the headphone in their “work cubbies” located in the
classroom to ensure that they will stay safe. Thanks for your ongoing support. Have
a great weekend! Please check out up coming announcements:
1. Snuggle up and Read: I was having some trouble getting my books
back with the snuggle up and read program, however I know this program
motivates the students to read at home, so I would like to continue it! I will
have a sign in and out sheet now for each student (like a library). If the
children do bring back their books every Monday, they will not get to sign out
a new one. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated!
Parents should also be writing down the minutes on the calendar so I can track
how much they are reading! For every 100 minutes, they will get a stick to add
to their log J
2. Registration Packages went home just before the holidays. I hope
to see every back next year! Please be sure to register as soon as possible, as
these spots fill up quickly. The
deadline for maintaining a spot for next year is February 20th, 2014!
3. International Day
will be held this year on Friday, January 23rd, 2015. We will be in
the gym from 2:30pm to 3:20pm. At this time, parents are able to come in and
explore the other countries! The
students will be learning about Italy. I am so excited to explore this country
with the class, especially since I am Italian J. Students will be using their own
information to learn about Italy. I am asking that each child print off some
basic information regarding our country, so we can work on this next week!
Thank you for you help!
Take a look at our day:
French – Mme. Stella
Arts
Today in class the students worked on the
international day board! They brought a lot of great information in. With a
partner they chose a fact about Italy they wanted to add to the board J
Gym – Ms. Lovan
Math
Today in math we looked at our 3D
solids, and discussed which ones we could use to build a tower! Then the
students actually got to build their own tower in order to recognize that the
flat objects are used for the bottom!
MMS: pgs. 122-124
Unit of Inquiry
The students continued to work on their
summative projects!
Winnie The Pooh
We started off by reading chapter 5!
Then as a class we discussed what we read together and reflected with a
partner. Then, on a piece of paper, the students had to predict what a
“Heffalump” was and draw what they think it looks like! They had a great time
doing this!
Have a wonderful Evening
Ms. Rossi
