Happy Friday!
We will start
using our tablets next week for Daily 5! I am asking that the students bring
in a set of headphones so they can listen to the tablets for certain
activities. We will be using them on Thursday afternoon. Students can leave
the headphone in their “work cubbies” located in the classroom to ensure that
they will stay safe. Thanks for your ongoing support. Have a great weekend! Please
check out upcoming announcements:
11.
Students will
now have the opportunity to work on our new tablets. We are implementing a
designated time period during the week so students are able to exercise the use
of technology in the classroom. This is really exciting, as the kids absolutely
love to work with technology.
2. Snuggle up and Read: I was having some trouble getting my books
back with the snuggle up and read program, however I know this program
motivates the students to read at home, so I would like to continue it! I will
have a sign in and out sheet now for each student (like a library). If the
children do bring back their books every Monday, they will not get to sign out
a new one. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated!
Parents should also be writing down the minutes on the calendar so I can track
how much they are reading! For every 100 minutes, they will get a stick to add
to their log J
3. Registration Packages went home just before the holidays. I hope
to see every back next year! Please be sure to register as soon as possible, as
these spots fill up quickly.
4. International Day will
be held this year on Friday, January 23rd, 2015. We will be in the
gym from 2:30pm to 3:20pm. At this time, parents are able to come in and
explore the other countries! The students
will be learning about Italy. I am so excited to explore this country with the
class, especially since I am Italian J. Students will be using their own
information to learn about Italy. I am asking that each child print off some basic
information regarding our country, so we can work on this next week! Thank you
for your help! If students can bring pictures as well that would help make our board look even better!
Take a look at our day:
French – Mme. Stella
Dramatic Art – Mr. Monghan
Gym – Ms. Lovan
Math
Today in math the students worked on an
extra review for their math test on Monday! We went over it together as class,
and the students got a chance to study during class time.
Unit of Inquiry
Today the students learned how to be
organized when you cook! In groups, the students listed all the steps needed to
make cupcakes! We talked about the steps in order, and then the students had a
chance to decorate their own cupcakes!
Cursive Writing
HWT: pgs. 50 – 51
The need a little more practice in
cursive writing, so we continued to work on this today!
Journal - In the agenda they wrote they had journal for homework, however we ran out of time because we spent more time focusing on studying for math. No Journals this week!
Have a wonderful evening!
