We will be
using our tablets this week! The students are upper excited! I am asking
that the students bring in a set of headphones so they can listen to the
tablets for certain activities. We will be using them on Thursday
afternoon. Students can leave the headphone in their “work cubbies” located in
the classroom to ensure that they will stay safe. Thanks for your ongoing
support. Please check out up coming announcements:
1. Snuggle up and Read: I was having some trouble getting my books
back with the snuggle up and read program, however I know this program
motivates the students to read at home, so I would like to continue it! I will
have a sign in and out sheet now for each student (like a library). If the
children do bring back their books every Monday, they will not get to sign out
a new one. Your assistance with this is greatly appreciated!
Parents should also be writing down the minutes on the calendar so I can track
how much they are reading! For every 100 minutes, they will get a stick to add
to their log J
2. Registration Packages went home just before the holidays. I hope
to see every back next year! Please be sure to register as soon as possible, as
these spots fill up quickly. The
deadline for maintaining a spot for next year is February 20th, 2014!
3. International Day
will be held this year on Friday, January 23rd, 2015. We will be in
the gym from 2:30pm to 3:20pm. At this time, parents are able to come in and
explore the other countries! The
students will be learning about Italy. I am so excited to explore this country
with the class, especially since I am Italian J. Students will be using their own
information to learn about Italy. I am asking that each child print off some
basic information regarding our country, so we can work on this next week!
Thank you for you help!

Math
Today we began our brand new geometry
unit. We looked at different 3D objects together, and described what we saw!
Then we looked at a picture, and tried to pick out as many shapes as we could
fine. Students worked in their workbooks.
MMS: pgs. 121
Unit of Inquiry
The students continued to work on their
summative projects!
Cursive
The students continued to practice
their cursive writing!
HWT: pgs. 52 – 53
Writers Workshop
We are learning how to properly write
a letter! We read a book that teaches us the necessary parts of a letter. Then
we wrote a letter to Robert Munch as a class!
Journal
The students need more practice
writing, as I feel that they forget some of the writing habits over the break.
So we had a journal entry today as well, and a little lesson about the rules of
writing.
Topic: When it’s cold outside, I like to ….
