Welcome back everyone! I hope that everyone enjoyed any extra time spent with the children J Today we did a lot of work in the classroom, and the students worked really hard to get it all done. Here is a look at our day.

Math

Grade 1

On the board we reviewed these concepts, finding the missing numbers, before numbers, counting by 10’s & 5’s, completing a bar graph and word problems.

Homework:

pgs. 61-64 in Arith. 1

Grade 2

We  reviewed addition, subtraction, counting money, telling time, word problems, place values, and temperature.

Homework:

Arithmetic 2: pgs. 45 – 48

UOI

Grade 1

Introduced the summative task to students, read through the letter and rubric and ensure students know what is expected of them. They picked their dinosaur. For Wednesday, they will need to bring in some research from home to help answer the research questions. Once they have their research they will have time in class on Thursday and Friday to answer those questions and complete their picture/drawing.

Grade 2

Today the grade 2’s began to work on their culminating task. They got to pick what their product will be. They then thought of ways to advertise this product.

Language

Grade 1 and 2

All students practiced their phonics skills in their language skills.

Language 2 pgs. 40 – 41

Spelling

Both grades practiced their spelling words in their notebooks. They had to write their words 3 times, and write a sentence for each word. Then they practiced using these words in their spelling workbooks.

Cursive Writing

Grade 1 and 2

All students practiced their cursive writing skills in their workbooks.
