Good evening! I just wanted to let everyone know that the
St. Jude’s gala will take place on Saturday, February 22, 2013. Mark it in your
calendars J
Take a look at our day today;
Math
Grade 1
We are using
words like; long, longer, longest to compare time. We looked at various
activities and discussed what activity takes the longest, and comparing the
different activities shown on the big math book. We then compared time, using
walking, jumping, and singing exercises.
Homework: MMS.
pgs. 50
Grade 2
We discussed the
different ways to add these three numbers together before we began the lesson. Students learned to “find 10 strategy”
Students will
learn that it is easier to find numbers that add to “10” first.
Homework.
UOI
Grade 1
Today we
discussed the importance of organization. The students then got a chance to brainstorm
in groups what organization means to them. They thought of great ideas.
Grade 2
Today the grade 2s turned the classroom into a game show as the grade twos made groups to compete in “NAME THAT MATERIAL!” Students would be shown a picture of an item and have to name what material it was made of. We discussed as a group the importance of using the proper material when building a structure or item.

Grade 2
Letter and Sounds
pg. 39 – 40
Today, both the
grade 1’s and grade 2’s worked on a retell activity. As a class, we read we
read a story, and orally worked on ways the retell the story using as much
detail as possible. I am focusing on getting the students to remember the
characters, the settings, the problem, the solution, and what happened at the
beginning, the middle, and the end.
After we talked
about this orally, the students filled out a worksheet based on the things we
discussed in class.
Have a great
night!
