November 7th, 2013
Hello everyone! Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday,
November 8th, 2013, and Monday, November 11th, 2013 are
PA days! Hope everyone is excited for the weekend J Here is a look at our today.
Math
Grade 1
We focused on number from 1 to 20 and the
different ways we can represent them.
The students were shown a two-part mat an
they learned how we can use it to help show and build different numbers bigger
than 10. The students used various numbers from 10-20, which they had to use to
change the right side of the mat.
Homework
MMS pgs. 33-35.
Grade 2
Today in grade 2 we used paper plates that
the students made yesterday to tell time. We reviewed what hand was the hour
hand and what hand was the minute hand. We always reviewed how to count
minutes. Then, we talked about the different ways you can tell time.
Homework
MMS: pgs. 61-63
UOI
Grade 1
Together we read Tom and the Dinosaur Egg
together at the carpet. Then, the students had a chance to write a
story/journal in which you have your own pet dinosaur. What adventures might
you have together? They had to write 5 sentences for this writing assignment.
Grade 2
The grade twos worked on advertising a print
aid for a special teddy bear. They had to use what they have learned about
advertising so far, and apply it to this print out.
Spelling
Grade 1 & 2
Both grades wrote their spelling tests today J
Language
Grade 1 & 2
Both grade worked on their phonics in their
language workbooks.
Grade 1
Language 1 pgs. 41-42
Grade 2
Language 2 - pgs 39 – 40
We also had a remembrance day assemble today.
As a school we met in the gym. We watched a video, wrote a postcard to a
veteran, and showed our respect during a minute of silence. This was a great
preparation for Monday. Hopefully, everyone will remember to pay their respects
at 11:00am on Monday!
Have a very great long weekend J
