Welcome back, I hope everyone had a great weekend! I just wanted to remind everyone of the Gala, which will take place on February 22, 2014. Its going to be a great, and I really hope to see you all there :) The lunch forms for February are due Thursday, January 23^rd, 2013. On the form it says that it is due on the Friday, but that is an error. Sorry for the inconvenience. Take a look at our day.

Math 

Grade 1

The students wrote their unit tests for addition and subtraction. This was a difficult test, so the students got extra time to complete it!

Grade 2 

The grade two’s practiced their math skills in their arithmetic books. We are currently working on counting by 25, which they are improving on.

Grade 1

We are beginning a brand new unit today! We are now focusing on inventions! Today we looked and problems, what inventions fixed these types of problems.

Grade 2 

The grade 2’s also started a brand new unit of inquiry as well! They are studying the Olympics. The students had to pick a country, and draw and colour the flag of that country.

Language 

Both grade 1's and 2's worked on their phonics today in their Letter and Sounds workbooks.

Novel Study

We read some pages in our Winnie the Pooh novel. Then we talked about funny vs. honey poem, and compared them together as a class.

Spelling

Both grade 1's and 2's got their brand new spelling words which they had to copy down 3 times and write a sentence for each word. They then worked on these words in their spelling workbooks.
