Happy Friday everyone!!! This week flew by! I just
wanted to remind everyone of the Gala, which will take place on February 22,
2014. Its going to be a great, and I really hope to see you all there :) The
grade two's will be having their UOI day on Monday, January 13th, 2014. There
will be a scientist in the school who will be conducting a structure workshop
with them! It is $8 dollars for each child. The money must be in by this
Friday, January 10th, 2013, along with their permission form. The forms are in
the front of their agenda :) Take a look at our day;
Math
Grade 1
The grade ones worked on subtraction sentences
again today! We sang a song, and wrote a subtraction sentence for each verse.
They really enjoyed this, and the entire class completed their work in class
today.
Grade 2
The grade twos worked on probability today. We
looked at different spinners and predicted why section the spinner would land
on. They understood that it would most likely land on a section that is bigger.
They then played a game, and used the spinner they used to make predictions.

UOI
Grade 1
Today in UOI, we discussed how we organize our
classroom to help us learn. Then the grade 1’s had to draw a picture of their
room when it’s messy, and then a picture of how they would organize it. They
then had to explain the strategies they used to clean it.
Grade 2
The grade two’s had a great day! They built their
very structure as a class. Using marshmallow’s and toothpicks, they built a
bridge! Then they had a discussion about the structure.
SPELLING TEST!
Novel Study
Both grades listened to a couple pages of chapter
five in the Winnie the Pooh novel. Then as a class, we discussed what we read,
and what a “trap” is. They had to think of a way to trap a creature in the
story.
