Hello Parents!
Happy Friday! It has been a busy and crazy first week, but
we did it! Everyone is starting to get into the grove, and I am so excited for
this year. Today I introduced our first Unit of Inquiry to our class. The grade
1’s will be working on “Who we are” and the grade two’s will be working on “How
we organize ourselves.” I sent home a family tree with the grade 1’s to fill
out. Names are to be filled out under each family title. The grade two’s have
no homework.
In math we worked on sorting objects for the grade ones. In
grade two, we still worked on sorting, however we worked on attributes as well.
The homework for both are as follows:
Grade One : Math Makes Sense = MMS pg. 2-4
Grade Two: Math Makes sense = MMS pg. 17–18
This week has been very busy, especially in a grade one and
two classroom. We have been doing a lot of house keeping things. For example,
classroom rules, classroom jobs, and getting to know each other exercises. We
have not dipped into the language section yet, however it will begin on Monday
with spelling words for each grade. We have been doing read-a-loud activities in
the classroom, as both Mrs. Hamilton and I love to read and believe our
students should invest some of their time in books. We are starting the “snuggle
up and read” program on Monday as well.
Hope everyone has a very great weekend, and I will see you bright
and early on Monday!
Ms. Rossi
