Good Evening Parents!
Hope everyone had a great weekend. I know there were
concerns about the agenda last week, but I am trying a new technique this week,
and giving them more time. I will also be checking their bags to ensure they
are packing the right books. I noticed they had some trouble with the agenda,
so this is something I am working on.
Here is how our day looked:
UOI
Grade 1
We shared our family tree activity, and looked at a world
map to see where our families are from. We talked about family relationships
for the morning, and they were all excited to share.
NO homework
Grade 2:
Students looked at maps in more detail today. They worked on
a compass worksheet that dealt with specific directions.
NO homework
Math:
Grade 1:
We continued to understand sorting, and the different ways
on which we sort things. We did examples as a class, and they were able to work
on their homework and complete in class. I checked all work to ensure it was
done correctly.
NO homework
Grade 2:
We took sorting to the next level and began looking at
various terms, such as attributes, sorting core, and patterns. This was mostly
a review class since I felt they did fully grasp these terms on Friday. We went
over the homework from the weekend together.
NO homework
Spelling
Grade 1:
The grade 1’s were given 6 spelling words today and one
bonus word. They had to copy down these words into their spelling notebooks,
and write one complete sentence for each word. For homework, they have to
finish this activity. For now they can print, but we are aiming to have this
done in cursive. There will be a spelling test on Friday, so students should be
practicing these words.
Grade 2:
The grade 2’s were given 10 spelling words, and began working
with these words in their spelling workbook. The grade 2’s will also have a
spelling test on Friday, so they should be practicing these words as well.
Homework:
Spelling Notebook:
pg. 5-8
Have a great night!
Ms. Rossi
