Hello Parents,
Hope everyone is having a great Friday! I am so sorry I
didn’t remind you last night on my blog about the spirit dress up day. We gave
students who were not wearing their house colours something to put on. They all
had so much fun! Here is our day;
UOI:
Grade 1:
We discussed how we can make friends based on things we like
or have in common. Although, we are different we can still be friends too.
Students made their own nametags with their interests drawn on them.
NO HOMEWORK
Grade 2:
Students used information about the features of their
community to write a letter to a family member who wants to visit (discussed
last class). They also sang a song about all the oceans and presented it to the
class! It was great I took a video and will try and post it tonight.
Math
Grade 1:
Students identified some things about the object first and
see if they can figure it out. Then they identified a pattern and discussed
what it was. We found patterns together, and then made one using blocks.
Homework:
Math Makes Sense = MMS – pg. 7 & 8
*Note: IF students do not have this book in their bag, they
already finished it for homework.
Grade 2:
First and foremost, students will have a test next Friday,
September 20th, 2013 on the work done in the Math Makes Sense workbooks,
which includes sorting and patterns. Today we worked on a problem solving
activity that dealt with patterns. The group worked together on this, they did
great.
Homework:
Study for test on Friday
Math Makes Sense = MMS – pg. 23
*Note: IF students do not have this book in their bag, they
already finished it for homework.
Spelling:
Test today! They will be marked and given back on Monday!
NO HOMEWORK
Language:
Grade 1:
Students worked on decoding sentences as a group today. It
was a puzzle with pictures, and they have to put the words in order for the
sentence to make sense.
NO HOMEWORK
Language 2:
We continued to work on finishing sentences today. We did
some together on the board, and they continued to practice this in their
Language 2 notebooks.
Homework:
Language 2: pg. 6&7
*Note: IF students do not have this book in their bag, they
already finished it for homework.
I really hope that everyone has a great weekend!
Ms. Rossi
