Good evening parents. Hope everyone is having a great night.
I can’t believe that week two is almost over! Time is going by way too fast,
but our class is starting to really come together. I am sorry that I have not
given the students the “Snuggle Up and Read” binders yet. These past 2 weeks
have been pretty hectic so we will start this program on Monday. Thanks for
your understanding. Here is a look at our day;
UOI:
Grade 1:
We did an awesome activity today for our UOI. As you know we
are talking about Relationships, Responsibility, and Rules. Students were given
a variety of situations they needed to act out, and what they would do as a
parent or child. We presented and discussed skits together as a class.

Grade 2:
The grade two’s discussed cities, provinces, and countries.
They located our community on a map as a class. Students also began to write
letters to families who do not live in their community. They had to tell them
what to pack with them in relation to our community. This was a great activity
for them as their imaginations were really able to run wild.

Math:
Grade 1
Students practiced formation of 0-9, wrote e two digit numbers
and practiced their place value system. They also drew objects to represent
words, listened to word problems and wrote addition sentences. Many children
finished this in class, so if they do not have their textbook, then their work
is completed.
Homework: Arithmetic 1 = A – pg. 13-15
Grade 2
The grade two’s worked on odd and even numbers, reading a
graph, and the definition of doubles. They all did a fabulous job and finished
their homework in the classroom.
Language
Grade 1:
I am focusing on getting students to remember the formation
of a sentence, and the importance of adding details to it. We did more examples
on the board and then the students practicing their skills in the “Letters and
Sounds Notebooks”. Again, if the children do not have their textbooks, then
they completed it in class.
Homework:
Letters and Sounds = LS – pg. 7 & 8
Grade 2:
In grade two, we also went over the structure of proper
sentences, since I have noticed that they are leaving out important
information. We also went over the definition of blends and practiced them as a
class. They continued to work on this in
their “Letters and Sounds Textbook.” If they completed it in class, then they
have no homework.
Homework:
Letters and Sounds = LS – PG. 5 & 6
Cursive Writing:
Both grades got time in class to trace and practice their
cursive writing.
NO HOMEWORK
Spelling:
The spelling test for both grades is tomorrow. Please
reviews some of these words with your children. Thanks
Have a great night!
Ms. Rossi
