Good evening everyone, here is a look at
another busy day;
Math
Grade 1
Today in math class I worked with smaller
groups to answer the questions in our MMS notebooks so students could show me
what they knew so far. While we worked in smaller groups, the majority of the
class did some math Halloween centers activity. Games: Fill in the missing
numbers (Halloween), 2 Way Pumpkin Math, Halloween Colour by number, Rake it Up
Addition Problems, Spinning Number Sentences.
Homework: Review Booklet
Grade 2
The students got to display a number line
from 1 to 50 using the flash cards from Tuesday. They had to explain to me what
they remembered about the number line. They also had to explain what we can use
the number line to skip count by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. As a class we compared the number line to the
number chart (looks at patterns you see using number chart) à
when you count by 10’s they are all in the very last column, when counting by
5’s it ends in either 5 or 0. The grade 2’s understood that you can use number
patterns to count past 100.
Homework: MMS – 45,46,47
UOI
Grade 1
Unit of Inquiry:
Students watched the MSB Video MSB and the
Busasaurus- Netflix Season 2.
We discussed things throughout the video and
had students ask questions. They really liked this!
Grade 2
In Media literacy the grade twos decoded some common symbols
that we see every day and deciphered what these symbols mean and what there
message they are trying to convey to us. We then got to look at three other
popular forms of media, a billboard ad, a television ad, and a jiggle. They
were asked to pay close attention tonight to count how many different types of
media they can come in contact with.
French – Mme Stella
Language
Reading comprehension:
Grade 1 & 2
Both grades listening to a Halloween read
aloud as we practiced our reading comprehension.
Gym - Mr. Browning

Novel Study: Flat Stanley: Map Activity
Grade 1 & 2
For this activity, we looked at a map of Canada on the computer,
and more importantly, we focused on Ontario. After this, the students got a
blank map of Ontario, and had to label it on their own. The students then had
to colour a “mini” Flat Stanley that they had to past on Ontario. After, they
wrote in their journal, and told me what they did with Flat Stanley over
Thanksgiving weekend. They followed a paragraph format.
Have a great night everyone!
Ms. Rossi
