Hello parents.
Hope everyone is having a great evening so far. Here is a look at what we did
today;
Math
Grade 1
Today in math we
continue counting number patterns. We began looking at a number chart on the
computer. Students had a chance to come up and click the numbers for each set
(10’s, 5’s, and then 2’s). Parents if you are interested in using the number
chart, this is the link; http://www.crickweb.co.uk/ks1numeracy.html#100square
As a class we
worked together to figure out number patterns on the board. Students were then
put into pairs and made their own number pattern (2’s, 5’s or 10’s with snap
cubes or counters. In groups, they shared their pattern with another group and
have them guess what it is.
Homework:
MMS: pg. 147 – 148
Grade 2
The students are focusing on how to record addition and subtraction
stories to 18. We first heard a story problem, and then as a class we focused
on the certain steps needed to solve the problem using addition and subtraction
sentences.
Homework: MMS – pg. 34-35
UOI
Grade 1
The grade ones
continued to work on their timeline project today. We went over the toddler
page and I explained to students what they should do and how, and what is
expected of them.
No Homework
Grade 2
Today we
looked at local and global foods. Students were then given a flyer for a local
grocery store and asked to make a food board that advertised only
"local" foods. After we introduced the idea of trading and played a
trading game where students split into groups and had to trade livestock such
as cows or chicken for peppers and oranges. This game demonstrated how
important it is for countries to be flexible in their trading and trade what
they have in order to obtain what they don't.

Read Aloud: Flat
Stanley
Grade 1 & 2
The students
created a story web of all the events that have happened so far in the novel

Browning
Autumn Worksheet
Grade 1 & 2
As a class we discussed all the things we see, hear, feel, smell in
autumn.
The students
filled out the autumn activity worksheet. We read a really great book regarding
all the changes we see during fall and why. This was a really great activity as
it was a fun way to practice learning comprehension.
Language
Grade 1 & 2
The grade 1’s and
2’s were introduced to adjectives today. We read a short Thanksgiving story! On
chart paper we wrote down all the words in the story that described words about
the person, place or thing. Students listed words describing words as they
think about Thanksgiving!
